Saving 20 Hours Per Month and Growing Discover Traffic: Why Clint Chose Newsifier
“Our former CMS worked, but it was far from ideal for our needs”

A Leading Online Magazine for Men
Clint is one of Belgium’s largest online magazines for men, focusing on lifestyle, entertainment, and trending news. With over 5 million monthly page views, Clint is a major player in its niche. However, despite their popularity, challenges with their previous setup made it difficult for the team to meet their goals.
“Our former CMS worked, but it was far from ideal for our needs,” says Michaël, Clint’s editor-in-chief. “It was like driving a car with three wheels—not impossible, but exhausting and slow.”

Clint Faced a Costly Problem: Constant Downtime

Frequent Downtime
One of Clint’s biggest pain points was the constant downtime. Using WordPress with their former web development agency, the website would go offline every few weeks, sometimes for four to six hours. “When your site is down, it’s not just about lost traffic. You lose revenue and momentum,” Michaël explains.
Even when the site was back online, recovering traffic and rebuilding audience trust took time. This instability was a recurring issue that needed a permanent solution.

Poor Website Performance
PageSpeed and Core Web Vitals were another challenge. Clint’s website had slow loading times and poor scores, impacting both user experience and search engine rankings. “Google prioritizes fast, user-friendly websites. We weren’t meeting those standards, which made it harder to compete,” Michaël shares.

Inefficient Workflows and Manual HTML adjustments
Newsletter crafting and publishing were time-consuming tasks. On WordPress, creating newsletters required manual HTML adjustments and took up to 30 minutes. “Editors don’t want to deal with coding; they just want to focus on content,” Michaël says.
The overall complexity of WordPress made day-to-day operations unnecessarily difficult. “I’ve worked with WordPress for years, but even after all that time, I still had to think twice about how to do certain things,” he adds.

Minimal Google Discover Traffic
At the time, Clint received almost no traffic from Google Discover and was heavily reliant on Facebook for visitors. “Facebook’s traffic wasn’t just declining—it also wasn’t as valuable as it used to be due to lower CPMs. We needed an alternative,” Michaël explains.

Slow and Unresponsive Support
Michaël also struggled with the lack of timely support from their former web development agency. “What I really appreciate about Newsifier is that I can send a request and usually get a response the same day. With our former web development agency, it often took four, five days—or even a week—to fix something,” Michaël says.
The Solution: Why Clint Chose Newsifier
In August 2022, Michaël decided to switch Clint to Newsifier. The CMS’s focus on reliability, user-friendly tools, and tailored features for news publishers made it a perfect fit for Clint’s needs.
Newsletter Creating and Sending
Newsifier’s automated newsletter tools reduced the time needed to create and send newsletters from 30 minutes to just 5 minutes. “It used to take half an hour to put together a newsletter, and now it’s done in minutes. That’s 15–20 hours saved every month,” Michaël says.

Optimized Website Performance
Newsifier optimized Clint’s PageSpeed and Core Web Vitals, achieving scores of 95+ and exceeding Google’s benchmarks. “Our site now loads faster, and our SEO has improved because of it,” Michaël shares.

Real-Time Analytics and Google Discover Optimization
Newsifier’s real-time analytics provided actionable insights that helped Clint shift their focus to Google Discover. “Now we get millions of views every month from Discover, where in the past our Google Discover traffic was close to zero”. Michaël explains.

User-Friendly Editor
Newsifier’s editor eliminated the need for HTML and other technical skills, allowing the team to focus on content. “Editors can finally just write. It’s as simple as that,” Michaël says.

Reliable and Proactive Support
The difference in support quality was another key factor. “With Newsifier, I don’t have to worry about waiting days for a response. The team is quick and helpful, which makes a huge difference when you’re running a busy site,” Michaël says.

Reliability - No downtime issues
Since switching to Newsifier, Clint has experienced only one minor downtime issue in two years. “The difference is night and day. It’s a relief not having to worry about the site going offline,” Michaël says.

The fear of losing traffic because of the Migration
Migrating to a new CMS is a major decision, and Michaël’s biggest concern was the potential loss of traffic. “The biggest fear we had was losing traffic,” he shared. “When you make such a significant change, there’s always a risk that Google takes time to adjust or that something goes wrong with your rankings.”

Newsifier’s team worked closely with Michaël to ensure the migration was smooth and minimized risks.
“Newsifier’s support team was with us every step of the way. They answered all our questions quickly and ensured there were no surprises during the migration,” Michaël explained.
Despite the initial fears, the migration went better than expected, with no downtime and immediate improvements. “We were worried about the technical challenges, but the process was practically seamless,” Michaël noted. “Our site became faster, more reliable, and we didn’t lose traffic—in fact, we started gaining more.”
The Results: Clint’s Growth in Numbers
Millions of Discover Views Each Month
Clint saw a dramatic improvement in Google Discover traffic, growing from almost zero to millions of monthly views.
“Google Discover has become our most valuable traffic source,” Michaël explains. “Not only is the volume higher, but the CPMs are also much better compared to Facebook. It’s a game-changer.”
15–20 Hours Saved Per Month
By reducing newsletter crafting and distribution times from 30 minutes to just 5 minutes, Clint saves 15–20 hours every month.

95+ PageSpeed and Improved Core Web Vitals
Clint’s website now achieves a PageSpeed score of 95+ and meets Google’s Core Web Vitals thresholds, leading to better user experiences and higher rankings in search results.
“Our site loads faster, our users are happier, and Google ranks us better—it’s a win on all fronts,” Michaël says.

Faster and More Reliable Support
Michaël noted a dramatic improvement in support response times.
“With Newsifier, I usually get a response the same day. That’s a huge difference compared to our former web development agency,” Michaël says.
Rock-Solid Uptime
Since switching to Newsifier, Clint has experienced only one minor downtime issue in two years.
“I no longer have to deal with emails about the site being down. It’s one less thing to worry about,” Michaël adds.
Looking Ahead: Clint’s Future with Newsifier
Michaël is excited about what’s next for Clint with Newsifier. “The tools we have now already make a huge difference, but I know there’s more to come,” he says.
One area of interest is further optimizing Google Discover performance and growing newsletter subscriptions. “Newsifier is helping us focus on the right things—traffic growth and audience engagement,” Michaël explains.

Switching to Newsifier allowed Clint to overcome their biggest challenges and achieve measurable results. From millions of Google Discover views to faster workflows and improved performance metrics, the transformation has been clear.
